MEET SAMANTHA SPECTRE
Samantha Spectre came a long way from the small Minnesota town where she grew up. She built a career as a journalist asking hard questions, challenging powerful people, and believing that the truth, eventually, finds its way out.
Then a personal betrayal in Washington, D.C., puts Samantha on the other side of the story.
What begins as a search for answers draws her into a much larger mystery involving money, power, influence, and people willing to go to extraordinary lengths to control the truth. The deeper Samantha investigates, the harder it becomes to separate the people she can trust from the people she can't.
And that raises a larger question at the heart of Manitou Road: What if the people and institutions we trust, and the stories we're told to believe, aren't quite what we think they are?
As Samantha follows the trail from Washington to the Oregon coast, another part of her past unexpectedly returns. A childhood friendship she thought belonged to another lifetime begins drawing her back toward the person she once was, and toward questions of faith, courage, and what matters when everything else is stripped away.
Eventually, both journeys lead to the same place.
